ABOUT
II’ve been a photographer for as long as I can remember—since the days I used to peek through my bedroom window, fascinated by the little stories unfolding in the neighbors’ backyard. Even before owning my first camera, I was already capturing scenes in my mind—people’s gestures, glances, and emotions.
What moves me is the portrait. I love capturing a person’s essence in a single frame—their gaze, their story, their personality.
I’ve been on the road for quite a while. My first professional experience was at Veja Magazine in 1989. A year later, I joined Jornal do Brasil, where I spent three intense years photographing for various sections, with a special focus on the Sunday Magazine.
In 1993, I became part of the founding team of Caras Magazine—when the editorial office was just two rooms in a hotel. I stayed until 2004, working as a photographer and later as photo editor in Rio de Janeiro. It was a remarkable period in my life: I photographed countless personalities, visited around 40 countries, and led teams covering everything from Rio’s Carnival to the Isle of Caras and the Château de Caras in France.
In 2006, I took on a new challenge as Photo Editor at Contigo Magazine, where I spent another seven years coordinating photographers, editing, and continuing to do what I love most—photographing people.
Since 2004, I’ve also been working as a freelancer. I shoot a bit of everything, but what truly drives me are the personal moments—those that reveal the uniqueness of each individual—and my own ongoing projects.
Since early 2019, Lisbon has been my home. It’s easy to find me.
This website is a small window into what I’ve captured over these 41 years.
Come along for the journey and enjoy the ride.
